Bakhtawar obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Concordia University Wisconsin. She also holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry.
Bakhtawar’s core belief is to practice a holistic, culturally sensitive approach with the dedication to empathetically understand her patients. She strives to create a non-judgmental, warm environment which supplements meaningful conversation while destigmatizing the need to seek treatment for mental conditions. She wants to help patients navigate the steps to achieve mental wellness by working through complex emotions and traumatic experiences, challenging negative thinking patterns, implementing new coping techniques, and managing medication.
Bakhtawar has special interest in trauma within the BIPOC community and providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care. Her other areas of focus include ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, depression and PTSD.
In her free time, she enjoys exploring Chicago and trying spicy food. Her favorite quote is, “There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.” – Carl Sagan
