For over 20 years, Michael Cortina has dedicated his career to guiding adolescents and young adults through their most critical developmental years. As a foundational member of Conventions Psychiatry & Counseling, he provides a safe space to help his clients build resilience and rediscover internal motivations. Michael specializes in treating Anxiety and Depressive Disorders, ADHD and the complexities of motivation by integrating relevant therapeutic interventions and restorative practices. For teenagers, he addresses heavy stressors like academic pressure, shifting peer dynamics, and emotional development. As his clients transition into adulthood, Michael provides crucial guidance to help them navigate college, enter the workforce, adult relationships and manage their emotional health while taking on the responsibilities of independence.
Recognizing that these pivotal life transitions can sometimes affect the family, Michael will work with family members to bridge communication gaps, manage complex behaviors, and restore a connected family dynamic. His approach is backed by an extensive academic foundation along with years of professional experience. Furthermore, his background as a licensed school counselor gives him a unique, firsthand understanding of the academic and social environments many of his clients navigate every day.
Outside the office, Michael values human connections and restorative hobbies, enjoying time with family and friends, fishing, traveling, and coin collecting.
